Technical requirements

There are many softwares available on the internet which are free and allow voice - chat, audio, audio / video conference or internet telephony. Our online lessons are given using probably the most innovative and FREE "voice over ip" (voip) software available on the internet. It is called Skype. It's easy downloadable from www.skype.com and allows to have audio conference (up to 5 people simultanously) with an excellent sound quality, far better than any telephone connection.

Beside that, this software makes it possible to exchange files in real time (texts, pictures, documents etc. that can be shared) and to text-chat while speaking. The latest versions of Skype allow even video conference, but in this case a webcam is necessary. If you are more familiar or prefer to use other free softwares such as Googletalk, Voip Stunt, Gizmo, Netmeeting, Yahoo Messenger, Msn Messenger or Paltalk etc., this is also possible. You just have to let us know.

Computer and Operating System Requirements (essential)

CPU :700 MHz or faster
RAM :128 MB or more
Operating Systems: Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP or Mac Os X
Pc-speakers and a microphone
(if your computer was bought after 2001 it will probably meet these requirements)

Internet Connection » Broadband or A/DSL connection with minimum 128 kbps upload speed
 

Additional (not essential)

Communications (Audio): Headset (Headphone + microphone)
Communications (Visual):  Camera (Webcam or digital video camera)

 The quality of the sound is better using a microphone headset (you can find one in any computer shop or department store at max. 10,00/12,00 Euro)

For those who don't have a computer or have no internet access we can offer the same lessons over the phone. Our teachers will call you to the number you have provided on your enrolment form (no cellular phones, only land lines)

How to start:

1- Go to the  skype page  and download the latest version for your computer (available for Windows, Mac Os X, Linux and pocket pc. Check also if your computer meets the system requirements).

2- Now that you have succesfully installed the required software, choose a "nickname" or skype id. Then fill out our online application form. We will contact you as soon as possible. You may also apply for a 20-minute free trial lesson!!!.

If you wish to sign up for a course, you can pay for your lessons with on-line secure payment thanks to PAYPAL (all major credit cards accepted).

Lessons take normally place between 8 am and 9 pm* (Italian time GMT + 1), every day except Sunday.
*UK and Ireland: 7 am - 8 pm.
*America: East: 2 am - 3 pm / Central: 1 am - 2 pm / Mountain: 0 am - 1 pm / Pacific: 11 am - 12 pm.
*Asia - Oceania: about 4 pm - 4 am (depending on your Country).
*Central Europe - Africa: about 8 am - 9 pm (depending on your Country).
